Truthfully Speaking…
"Truthfully Speaking," is a group exhibition of 21 artists from Israel, or rather, a mini-solo exhibition of each artist, underlining the characteristics of their work, presenting a form of self-portrait.
Some of the works are self-portraits in the classical sense of describing faces. Still, all expose the personal world of the artist, his or her inner and external world, culture and environment. All artists store a certain volume of unseen thoughts, emotions, life stories and memories, which are expressed in a unique artistic language. Intimate reality blends with free-reigning imagination, with the past and present – 21 reflections of the paths of life.
In these difficult and complex times for Israel it is important that Israeli art be presented abroad. We're proud to be here. It seems that in this case the old maxim "When the cannons are heard, the muses are silent," is fundamentally flawed, firstly by misunderstanding the role of art in human culture and then my misunderstanding the role of the 'muse.' Israeli art is responding with a flood of creativity both in the form of emotional expressions of the situation, and in the form of intuitive or intellectually informed works. Artistic work has a therapeutic power, healing and setting in motion the wheels of processing reality.
The artist is the source of the art, as it stems from the individual, his or her impulses and desires; the artists create themselves for themselves. The primal essence of the work stems from the artist's soul.
All the works in the exhibition are Inner truths – "Truthfully Speaking." The soul of the artist is always pure and innocent. It is not material; it is spiritual and always subjective. From the soul stems free will.
