GLORY is an art exhibition of Israeli artists. A work of art is a powerful experience that encompasses self-expression, healing, and solace. In Israel today, there is much pain, suffering, loss, bereavement, and worry – a struggle for existence. Art has always been and will always remain a medium that mirrors both personal and universal realities, while simultaneously providing an escape from it all. "Man is but a patch of earth, a small plot of land; man is but a mold of his native landscape." wrote Shaul Tchernichovsky in his iconic poem.
Each person carries within them a unique mold, shaped by the journey of their life. In the Israeli ethos, this line has become an emblem of the homeland's strength in shaping the consciousness of its people, embodying their perceptions and experiences like a fingerprint – no two are identical. The diversity is absolute, and it is this that creates such a personal and unique hallmark. The works in this exhibition reflect the 'landscape' of the artists' lives, as well as the 'landscape' of the homeland that is ingrained within them. In some works, one can directly or indirectly see or feel the connection to the national soil.
Presenting an art exhibition by Israeli artists is a source of pride and hope. A group exhibition is a challenge of creating harmony between different media, subjects, techniques, and materials. It's like a mini solo exhibition for each artist, a 'portrait' of an individual identity. Together, they create a fleeting 'family portrait' of colors, shapes, and ideas. Each work influences and resonates with the others, creating a new score.
Vienna has a glorious past of culture, art, and music. We are proud and happy to be part of this magical world and to bring the Israeli artistic voice to the forefront. The exhibition presents a wide range of creative fields: realist, surrealist, and abstract painting, mosaic works, works made from natural materials, and ceramic sculpture. The multidisciplinary art of these wonderful artists testifies to the Glory of the State of Israel.
