I would like to congratulate The International Cultural Union and the 18 Israeli artists participating in the exhibition "Magical Landscapes of Israel" in the municipal cultural center Nicolas Salmeron in Madrid.

One of the main objectives of the Embassy of Israel in Madrid is to promote the cultural and artistic dialogue between Israel and Spain, so I feel very pleased to present this special exhibition of wonderful contemporary views of a country so small and however so prodigal in contrasts, from a modern and innovative Tel Aviv, to the arid Negev desert and the green and fresh Galilee with an enigmatic Lake of Galilee contrasting the amazing Dead Sea or the shores of the Mediterranean, whose waters also bathe Spanish land.

The public in Madrid have now an opportunity to meet the Israeli reality from another point of view: through the eyes of artists who inhabit the country.

It is no coincidence that this exhibition comes in the month of September, when we celebrate the Jewish New Year 5773. For this reason I am pleased to wish to the ICU, to the Israeli artists and to the public in general, a fruitful, sweet and happy New Year.

It is for me a source of pride to support this initiative in the hope that it brings to a wider cooperation in Madrid and its surroundings.

Quiero dar la enhorabuena a la Unión Cultural Internacional y a los 18 artistas israelíes que participan en la exposición “Paisajes Mágicos de Israel” en el centro cultural Nicolás Salmerón del ayuntamiento de Madrid.

Uno de los principales objetivos de la Embajada de Israel en Madrid consiste en promover el diálogo cultural y artístico entre Israel y España, por lo que siento gran satisfacción al presentar esta muestra tan especial, de maravillosas vistas contemporáneas de un país tan pequeño y sin embargo tan pródigo en contrastes, desde una Tel Aviv moderna e innovadora, hasta el árido Néguev y la frondosa Galilea, con el dulce y enigmático lago de Tiberíades frente al alucinante Mar Muerto, o las costas del Mediterráneo cuyas aguas bañan también tierras españolas. El público madrileño tiene ahora la oportunidad de conocer la realidad israelí desde otro punto de vista: a través de la mirada de artistas que habitan el país.

No es casual que esta exposición llegue en el mes de septiembre, cuando festejamos el Nuevo Año Judío 5773. Por eso me es grato desearle a la UCI, a los artistas israelíes y a todo el público, un próspero, dulce y feliz año nuevo.

Es para mí un orgullo poder apoyar esta iniciativa con la esperanza de que ensanche aún más las puertas de la cooperación en Madrid y sus alrededores.
